Why 6.5 happens in Speaking

Speaking 7.0 is the CLB 9 threshold — and for Express Entry, CLB 9 in all four skills is what unlocks the maximum CRS language points. The frustrating part: plenty of candidates stuck at 6.5 sound fluent. The test report gives no per-criterion breakdown, so the real weakness stays invisible.

The official public band descriptors say Band 7 is not about sounding perfect or speaking with a particular accent. At 6.5 you're typically solid on three of the four criteria and leaking marks on one. Each criterion — Fluency & Coherence, Lexical Resource, Grammatical Range & Accuracy, Pronunciation — counts equally, so the fix is diagnostic: find your weakest criterion, repair that.
